Taking my Little Apprentice to See "The Sorcerer's Apprentice"

One of the many things I love, love, love about being a writer, is the flexibility it affords me.  Yes, there are many days when it's 11:30am, and I'm at my desk writing, still in my jammies, and I don't really like that part of it, but unless someone comes to my door, I'm usually pretty chill, and just go with the words, if they're flowing.  No, it's more the flexibility my writing allows, when it's put against the needs of a large and active family.  If I'm needed at Lee's school, I can arrange my writing around it.  If I need to take a day off to paint a room, I can.  Well, I haven't, but if I wanted to, I certainly could.  OK, yes, I need to.  This first, though.

Last Saturday I took Lee on assignment with me, and that was yet another aspect of my writing career that I was very grateful to have the opportunity to enjoy.  We got to see a Fairytale Theatre Children's Theatre performance at the Sierra Madre Playhouse in Sierra Madre.  What an awesome time we had!  I feared that it was going to be cheesy, but rather I came away feeling that I would gladly go back as a paying customer and see their performances again.  They're innocent, and sweet, and refreshing.

We were greeted outside the theatre by a Fairy Godmother.  Lee's eyes are closed.  Photography isn't my gift, remember?

My reserved little boy, watching Merlin entertain kids from a distance before the show.  He is so shy, and would have loved to have had his cousins, or friends with him.  A lot of the kids came in small groups, so to him, it appeared that everyone knew each other, and I think he felt like an outsider.  Bless his heart.  That, and his shirt was too big.

Our friend, TFG, came inside and her dress illuminated.  You can't see it here, though.  But, it was cute, and I loved it.  This is where the children were given their name tags, wands, golden coins, and programs.

The Sierra Madre Playhouse is proud of their plush, red velvet auditorium seats, and for good reason.  They're very comfortable!  Lee's holding up his wand.  Yellow, of course.  His favorite color since birth.

Merlin signs Lee's program, while Dee Dee Damsel looks on, approvingly.

It was a very nice morning, and both Lee and I had a great time.  The theatre is only about 15-20 minutes from my house, so we will be going back for future performances.  But, next time, we'll be taking young companions for Lee.  Let me know if your little one is interested!  On their Website, click Fairytale Theatre.
